The Outpatient Surgery Center of Hilton Head is a free standing surgery center, completely independent from the local Tenet hospital, providing surgery in the practice specialties of: ENT, gastroenterology, gynecology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, pain management, plastic surgery, podiatry, urology and general surgery. Our physicians work with an outstanding staff of registered nurses, allied health professionals and strategic partners. This team includes: Founding Members (Listed Alphabetically) Michael Gilbreath, MD Gastroenterology Dr. Gilbreath is a graduate of Southern Illinois University and the University of Illinois College of Medicine. He completed his residency at Barnes Hospital at the Washington University Medical Center and his fellowship in Gastroenterology at the Washington University School of Medicine. He is Board Certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine and has been practicing in Hilton Head since 1999. Kenneth Gleitsmann,MD Ophthalmology Dr. Gleitsmann is a graduate of the University of California at San Diego and the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. He completed his residency at Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco, is Board Certified in Ophthalmology, a Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He has been practicing in South Carolina since 1986 and in Hilton Head since 1995. Christina Gwozdz, MD Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) Dr. Gwozdz is a graduate of Bowdoin College and the Weill Medical College of Cornell University. She completed her residency at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore, is Board Certified in Otolaryngology, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology in Head and Neck Surgery. She has been practicing in Hilton Head since 1989. Glenn Gwozdz, MD Gastroenterology Dr. Gwozdz is a graduate of Princeton University and the Weill Medical College of Cornell University. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at George Washington University Hospital and his fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology and has been practicing in Hilton Head since 1989. Charles Nivens, MD Spine Medicine Dr. Nivens is a graduate of Augusta College and the Medical College of Georgia. He completed his residency at the Medical University of South Carolina and his fellowship in Spine Medicine at the Carolina Spine Institute. He is Board Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and has been practicing in Bluffton since 1999. Thomas Rzecyzcki, MD General Surgery Dr. Rzeczycki is a graduate of the University of Connecticut and the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He completed his residency in the Brown University Program in General Surgery at Rhode Island Hospital. He is Board Certified in General Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has been practicing in Hilton Head since 1998. Robert Soares, MD General Surgery Dr. Soares is a graduate of Brown University and the Washington University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in General Surgery in the Brown University Program at Rhode Island Hospital and his fellowship in Laparoscopic Surgery at the Rhode Island Hospital. He is Board Certified in General Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has been practicing in Hilton Head since 1998. Joseph Tobin, MD Orthopaedics Dr. Tobin is a graduate of Fordham University and the Georgetown University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Orthopedics at the Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago and his fellowship at the Anderson Orthopedic Research Institute in Arlington, VA.
